International Maritime Policy advises on maritime matters in a global context through its associate experts and its links with major organisations in the maritime and aviation fields. International Maritime Policy is headed by John Astbury CBE (an ex-Royal Marine Commando) the recently retired Chief Executive Officer of the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency (www.mcga.gov.uk) a worldwide maritime regulatory body and maritime emergency response organisation. Prior to this he was the UK Chief Coastguard and Director of Operations for 11 years. For over a decade John Astbury has been adviser to the Secretary of State for Transport, including the Deputy Prime Minister, on major maritime emergencies. He is a strategic command advisor and Associate to Vector Command (www.VectorCommand.com) an international training and emergency planning/resilience consultancy. He is also an associate of BMT Isis Ltd. (www.bmt-isis.com) and BMT-Cordah (www.bmt-cordah.com) Recently, Intermaripolicy has developed links with Canada through www.vmtechnology.ca and is working with Virtual Marine Technology.Inc to explore business opportunities in the UK and Europe. John is an adviser to the VMT Board. Intermaripolicy also provides training for IBC Global/Lloyds Maritime Academy (www.informa.com ) and Middlesex University for the Shipping & Logistics MBA and for corporate training workshops in Malaysia and Nigeria, and for NIMASA in the UK. John Astbury is also an international consultant for Lockheed Martin Overseas Corporation.  John is also an expert witness for Ince & Co International Solicitors for the Prestige case. As an Associate of Vector Command, International Maritime Policy has just won a major contract with the Environment Agency to plan and conduct the UK's national flood exercise - Exercise Watermark - in 2011.

 

International Maritime Policy is now associated with Briggs Marine Environmental Ltd to support the development of training courses under the International Centre of Excellence (ICE) banner. We are also pleased to advertise the services of Nick Beer, recently retired principal investigator with the UK Marine Investigation Branch (MAIB). International Maritime Policy supports and has complementary links with such organisations to bring to our clients the depth and breadth of knowledge that is second to none. Recently, advice was given through IMO to the Egyptian Government on handling major maritime emergencies. International Maritime Policy has recently led a workshop in Malaysia for IKMAL - the Malaysian parallel organisation to the Nautical Institute under the aegis of the Malaysian Government. International Maritime Policy has also carried out Risk Management training for Cares Ltd based in the Bonney Channel, Port Harcourt, Nigeria and is to carry out two 5 days Shipping Registry courses in London for NIMASA in September and October 2010.
